Why choose SHYNE

At Shyne Yoga & Wellness, we believe it’s essential to invest in your health in order to become what God has created you to be; to enjoy a life full of joy, gratitude, and satisfaction.

As a First Responders & Military family, we have seen the exhaustion fulfilling this courageous lifestyle; thus my passion is to support this specific population with job-oriented breathing and drills. In addition, supporting the entire community by helping each individual attain their goals.

We have small classes on purpose- so we can dedicate time to each person- because every individual's body is unique- and teaching them tools to ensure they can shine as a person. We also offer zoom and private practices to support everyone!

The Space

Shyne is a unique Yoga experience that will bring you energy, healing and peace. It all starts with a safe container- a space in which you will find it easy to relax, unwind and release.

The colors are calming and healing.

The design is minimally simplistic.

The live plants give life to the space.

Here, you will feel safe, supported and able to do the work.

What's In a Name?

SHYNE is an acronym for Shalom, Healing, Yoga,

Nutrition & Encouragement

- All things that can help us feel our best to

Shine Bright in this world!

Shalom

The beautiful Hebrew word is used as a greeting for Hello and Goodbye, but has a much deeper, in depth meaning. The word expresses peace, harmony, tranquility and wholeness.  Essentially, one is saying "May you be full of well-being" or

"May tranquility be upon you."

Biblically, it can refer to a tranquil sense, or completeness, inner peace, wholeness.  Rooting in the thought of being found safe in the mind or body. Numbers 6:23-26 provides this example when God refers to an inner peace for Israel.

The goal of SHYNE is to hold the space for you to find a safeness in body & mind, wholeness, inner peace, faith, God, your true self.

Healing with Meditation and Breathing

Meditation is  sitting with an honest, self-awareness in the present moment without any judgements. It's removing the expectations you may have of a stillness or peaceful experience and instead compassionately processing and welcoming what is happening in that particular experience.

With Trauma, the brain's amygdala or "alarm center" enlarges and become dominant. It's job is detecting threat, thus it begins overworking and we experience Hypervigilance or always feeling like everything is a risk (I do this so you are not alone!)

In addition, the hippocampus (responsible for our present moment, storing memories & orienting a time with the memory) shrinks which doesn't allow us to put things into context or distinguish between past in order to be in the present.

The GOOD NEWS is Meditation & Yoga are evidenced based, proven techniques to actually reverse the negative, unhealthy impact of trauma; and learning an alternate path to a healthy state of a present-centered focus with openness to explore creativity and new possibilities.

RESEARCH has shown that Meditation provides a positive impact on the nervous system including:

  • Slowing down of the heart rate

  • Slowing the respiration

  • Decrease in blood pressure

  • Overall slowing of the nervous system (think less hypervigilance)

Sit & Breathe

Breath is life! It is able to energize and relax the body while keeping it healthy and strong.

When we do not breathe well, it can lead to stress, anxiousness, and a negative impact the body. Trauma add another layer to the breathing patterns. Most people tend to breathe very shallow and short'; thus adversely triggering the nervous system.

Powerful, evidence based breathing techniques assist in calming the nervous system.

Proper Pranayama Breathing can calm the nervous system; bringing a very real, stable change to the entire body!

Pure Breath, Alternate Nostril Breathing, Sun Breath, Kapalabhati, and many other variations that can help you begin to slow the mind, positively affect the nervous system, and learn to work through difficult or stressful situations with breath work.

Meditation

Meditation is  sitting with an honest, self-awareness in the present moment without any judgements. It's removing the expectations you may have of a stillness or peaceful experience and instead compassionately processing and welcoming what is happening in that particular experience.

Emotions, pressing thoughts, business or monkey mind, sleeplessness, past or future events may arise during meditation; all which are normal.

A Safe Space is created before meditation begins. We find a comfortable seat & keep it simple!  We learn to accept life on life's terms.

Focus Meditation gives the mind a concentration point through the practice.

Awareness Meditation invites one to observe their bodies, emotions, and mind moment to moment (in a safe space).
